The Bright Side of Edmonton's Long, Cold Winters.
Peony season is the most wonderful time of the year! Unfortunately, it's also one of the shortest flower seasons, lasting only six to eight weeks. That means there's only a small window each year to enjoy them, which is a shame considering they're one of the world's most beloved flowers.
We know this firsthand because we receive phone calls all year long asking if peonies are in stock. More often than not, we have to deliver the heartbreaking news that they'll have to wait until next season.
The good news? If you're reading this around July 8, 2026, you're in luck! Thanks to Edmonton's unusually rainy spring, peony season arrived a little later than usual. That means these gorgeous blooms are at their peak, and for a limited time, they're also on sale.
So, while peony season is still here, let's celebrate by exploring what makes peonies one of the world's most requested flowers.

Reason 1: They're Rare

Reason 2: The Aesthetic
Peonies have a soft, romantic, and elegant aesthetic that works beautifully with many of today's most popular design trends, including cottagecore, quiet luxury, romantic, and old money. They were also symbols of happy marriages during the Victorian era, making them a timeless favourite for weddings. Their big, fluffy petals and frilly edges give them a luxurious, feminine look that instantly adds a rich, regal feel to any space.
Their association with luxury goes back centuries. In ancient China, peonies were known as the "King of Flowers" and were reserved for imperial gardens, where they symbolized wealth, honour, prosperity, and royalty. (Although, with petals this soft and feminine, we think "Queen of Flowers" would have been a much more fitting title!) Even today, they remain one of the most sought-after flowers for weddings, celebrations, and elegant home décor.

Reason 3: Bigger Really Is Better
There is nothing that heals my soul faster than holding a giant, beautifully wrapped peony bouquet in my arms. Their size, texture, and layers are an absolute masterpiece. In fact, some peony blooms can grow up to 10 inches (25 cm) across—about the size of a dinner plate. Now imagine 20 of those blooms together (our Grande Peony Bouquet). The result is a bouquet so breathtaking that everyone in the room stops, stares, and says, "Wow."
Peony Season Is Here, But Not for Long
Like all the best things in life, peony season never lasts as long as we'd like. If you've been waiting all year for these breathtaking blooms, now is the time to enjoy them. Whether you're treating someone special or buying yourself flowers (we fully support that!), there's no better moment to bring home a little peony magic while the season lasts.
